Unveiling ONGC's World-Class Integrated Sea Survival Training Facility Launch at IPSHEM, Goa, executed by SSI

ONGC has visualized and developed a world-class "Integrated Sea Survival Training Facility" ("ISTF") at ONGC IPSHEM, Goa, to impart "Advanced Marine Aviation and Sea Survival Training" ("A-MAST") to its Oil & Gas personnel.
Built by Mumbai-based Survival Systems India, this one-of-a-kind and highly advanced training facility has one of the most advanced Survival Training Simulation Theatres to simulate the most realistic crash and escape simulation from a helicopter at sea in various situations such as heavy sea, state, smoke, deluge, day and night.

The ISTF comprises the following simulators: Helicopter Underwater Egress Trainer (HUET), Rescue Hoist Trainer, Wave Simulator and Environment Simulators.

The HUET is a modular egress training simulator designed to train aircrew and passengers to escape from a sinking helicopter. The simulator can be quickly reconfigured by use of exterior panels which replicate the actual escape exits found on specific helicopters such as AW139, Bell 412 and Dauphin N3. The Rescue Hoist Trainer (RHT) is designed to train passengers in rescue procedures and techniques while being rescued by a helicopter.

The ISTF offers some of the most rigorous and intense emergency response training to ONGC personnel and will help to build the confidence of the aircrew and passengers to survive at sea in life threatening emergencies.

This training can be easily expanded to encompass personnel from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Army, Space, Civil Aviation, Merchant Navy, Wind and Marine industries. The basic building blocks have been put in place. The facility has been future proofed for expansion to accommodate additional simulators such as a Search and Rescue Simulator, Full Motion Bed Lifeboat Simulator and Fixed Wing Escape Training Simulators.
